Transporting Dreams Foundation

Transporting Dreams Foundation is a charitable organization founded by Antonio and Latasha Purvis in the fall of 2008. The organization's Board of Directors includes the aforementioned founders and business and community leaders, Terron and Felicia Long. The charity is dedicated to help serve the needs of children who are itinerant because of physical, mental or emotional indispositions. Transporting Dreams Foundation’s principles were established after the founders continued to witness the day-to-day struggles of children and families who require extra support with shelter, food and clothing, while spending a few extra minutes speaking with a child as one of their healthcare providers.

The vision of Transporting Dreams Foundation is to improve the physical, emotional, and mental well being of children while being itinerant and to raise awareness of the Mecklenburg and Cabarrus counties foster care system in order to increase the availability of homes for children with an array of healthcare needs. The mission of Transporting Dreams Foundation is to provide toys, books, clothing, and essential items for care packages to disadvantaged and itinerant children and their families that help ease the constant transitions the children face. The guiding principal behind our mission is that all children, regardless of socioeconomic status, race, religion or nationality, are deserving of those things which can help give them a happier and more fulfilling life.

A new toy, coat or book can mean everything to a disadvantaged child. A new toy can also develop a child’s dreams and aspirations for a career. The items can provide fun and enjoyment and gives a child a sense of pride in having something of their very own.

Transporting Dreams Foundation appreciates your support in developing dreams and serving the needs of children and families in our community! The Carolina Panthers, Friends and Family Annual tailgate, located near Bank of America Stadium, continues to be monumental in collecting items each year.

Since it’s launch in 2008, numerous local schools and churches, The Concord Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., The Charlotte Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Gracious Hands Transitional Housing, Echelon Care and Florence Crittenton Services has recognized the organization for its efforts in serving the community with donations to children and families.
